The Village of Canal Flats is located at the southern end of Columbia Lake along Highway 93/95, between Invermere and Cranbrook. In this close-knit community, everyone feels like an extended family. Surrounded by wilderness you’ll be only a short drive to either Invermere, Kimberley, or Cranbrook and 20 minutes south of Fairmont Hot Springs.
Up until November 2015, Canal Flats was known as a thriving sawmill town. When the sawmill closed its doors, a technology firm saw an opportunity and set up Columbia Lake Technology Centre. The firm has invested in property and is rapidly growing operations.
The first weekend in June Canal Flats holds their annual Canal Days Party. Residents enjoy a series of events including a talent show, parades, pancake breakfast, beer garden, raffles, and naming the Canal Flats Citizen of the Year.
